What should someone know about working with you?

My counseling style is interactive, strengths-based, and collaborative. I believe in a therapeutic relationship that builds a trusting rapport and creates a safe space to have open dialogues about presenting concerns. Together, we generate active solutions and improve your overall level of functioning in daily living. We will work collaboratively to discover strategies that work for you and tailor your treatment to meet your unique and individual needs. After our initial consultation and discussion of goals for counseling, we will gradually work on increasing self-awareness and increasing satisfaction in daily living. This process may involve task assignments, recommended readings, and other suggestions that are aimed at accomplishing your set goals. I look forward to working with clients who are oftentimes struggling to find motivation for their inner truth and authentic sense of self.

What was your path to becoming Licensed Mental Health Counselor?

My passion for this field falls nowhere short of my desire to follow a path of understanding, authenticity, and self-truth. From a young age, faced with diversity and difference, I was able to understand the importance of resiliency, compassion, and acceptance. My interest in learning the stories of others and providing guidance on becoming the best version of themselves has continuously evolved throughout my career. This has allowed me to genuinely connect with others while they embrace the strengths that assist them in navigating their obstacles. Being aware of our needs and seeking help is a difficult yet courageous choice. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients on their healing journeys toward their well-being.

How do your core values shape your approach to care?

All our life experiences, from upbringing to present-day, shape our lives, values, and perspectives. Whether it is through our own darkness that we emerge or other moments that transform us into our very being, I have had the unique opportunity to experience this in myself and others. I have learned to embrace the discomfort that challenges our existence and growth as individuals. I carefully approach obstacles with sensitivity and optimism. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion while also keeping a good sense of humor. I have found that meeting people where they are allows for transparency, vulnerability, growth, and self-acceptance, so I encourage everyone to come as they are!
